Let me give you youngins a brief history lesson! 😀
Way back when Tom from MySpace was everybody’s friend and ol’ Zuck was “modeling” HarvardConnection, business peeps like you and I spent a lot of time and handwringing trying figure out how to use this shiny new object to to move units.
Get hired.
Sell stuff.
Kinda funny that many are still trying to figure it out.
Anyhoo, yours sneaky was no different. And, to my infamy, I became a quasi-spammer as a result. Truthfully, back then, the socials were so anti-business you didn’t have much choice. There were no business pages or ad platforms.
Business people were like the old dude crashing a high school party.
“Ew!”
Anyway, moral of the story is… I figured out a way to siphon potential clients off MySpace while flying under their moderation radar. Took it, systematized it and create a several-thousand-dollar-a-month revenue stream — based solely on MySpace traffic.
It was my first real online business.
Now, here’s the thing…
That same basic strategy is still what works for business people on social media — minus the spamming. A completely, ethical, honest and TOS-safe way to attract a large following of potential clients and create a consistent revenue stream from your social media.
It’s the same strategy used by Gary Vee.
I’ve seen the popular BossBabe account do it.
And numerous less-known freelancers, coaches and course creators.
And the biggest thing to know is… it’s NOT about what you post. It’s not about figuring out the exact perfect picture to take or caption to write, video to create… that’s gonna make you go “viral” and everybody love you. What you post is maybe 1/10 of what matters.
It’s also not just about commenting on other people’s stuff.
Again, part of it… but worthless without the rest.
It’s about a comprehensive approach to your social media account.
Leveraging all the tools each platform gives you *in a way* that makes people want to hire you. And because all these sites are so big, even just one platform can be all you need as a client source.
Especially potent if you combine it with my Upwork strategy for “juicing” their algorithm.
Anyway, take from all that what you will…
But, I lay out this strategy in my Social Media for Freelancers course if you want to learn it — which includes real-world examples from other influencers doing it right now.
Because the course is on Skillshare, you can get access essentially free. That’s because, as a teacher there, I can get you an exclusive 1-month free trial of the site (normal trial is just 7 days).
With that, you get full access to all 30,000+ course on the site.
And, if you cancel before the month is up, you never pay a penny.
Do with that info what you will, but you can use this link to get the trial: https://skl.sh/3bGXs4U. I also created a video explaining the Skillshare offer more here: https://johnmorrisonline.com/skillshare
Might make for a nice weekend training for you to implement next week.
Later,
John
P.S. Patrons, of course, already have access to the course here: https://myjohn.us/patreon
