Old lady accuses me of being a sorcerer

The other day, I told you my mummy’s story.

Got lots of reaction to that.

Including my mom. Here’s what she said:

“So did you put a recording device in my head and record all my thoughts and feelings because I couldn’t have explained it any better. In fact I think you did it better than I could have. And yes I love what I do now. I save lives wether it be a homeless dog or a horse that no one else can handle. Training horses and dogs are my life now and I love it.”

No mother… I’m not a mind-reading sorcerer.

(Just ask my wife.)

It only takes a handful of conversations with someone to tell where they’re at.

You can see it in their eyes.

It’s like a lot of developers who email me.

You can sense it in their words.

It hits you like the “aroma” from the male wing of a college dorm.

(So, I’ve heard. I disavow any suggestion my dorm room was ever like this…)

Often, they’re working some job they hate, dreaming of an IT career, desperate for a way out, believe they’re destined for more but worried they just may not have what it takes. Or, waiting around for their big break.

Here’s the truth.

You are capable of doing this.

It doesn’t take a rocket surgeon.

You do have what it takes.

But, it’s not going to land in your lap.

There’s simply a skills gap right now. You’re on one side. Everything you want is on the other… and all you need to do is find a way across. Once you do, you’ll be home free and the rest is frankly easy after that.

And, anyone can cross it.

Now, you can do what I did… and stumble head first into the canyon, smash every rock, cactus and sharp edge on your way down, crawl across the hot sand and drag yourself to the other side… beaten, bruised and exhausted.

(My mom might also tell you I’m a wee bit stubborn, but I have no idea what she’s talking about.)

Or, you can take the bridge.

Sure, it still requires work.

Gotta walk that sucker.

But, far better than the route I took (like an idiot).

If you’re smarter than me, take the bridge here.

Everything you need to fill the skills gap. 240+ lectures on HTML, CSS, Javascript, jQuery, PHP, MySQL, Python, WordPress, APIs, Mobile Apps and more.

Normally 200 bones… right now 75% off.

Seems kind of dumb not to.

Sukh Plaha

John is a fantastic and patient tutor, who is not just able to share knowledge and communicate it very effectively – but able to support one in applying it. However, I believe that John has a very rare ability to go further than just imparting knowledge and showing one how to apply it. He is able to innately provoke one’s curiosity when explaining and demonstrating concepts, to the extent that one can explore and unravel their own learning journey. Thanks very much John!
