That’s the legend, anyway.
My little brother works for this company that provides consulting and migration services for a software called Tririga. Basically, what it does is make it easy for large companies to manage all of their real estate… lease, payments, all that. So, take a company like CVS that has 9,600 stores. That’s a lot of lease contracts, payments, etc. This software does it for them.
So, I asked him the other day who invented Tririga.
And, according to the legend…
It was a group of mobsters in Las Vegas.
Apparently, they owned a bunch of casinos and got sick of managing all the different properties. So, they hired this group of coders to build them some software that would do it all for them. And, Tririga was born.
A bit later, IBM bought it…
And, now it’s used by companies like CVS, Office Depot and Nike…
Not to mention a bunch of government agencies.
Ha! So imagine that. These mobsters helped build this software that is now being used by the some of the same agencies trying to put them in the slammer. Pretty funny. And, apparently some of those original developers work at the company my little brother does.
Man, the stories they could tell.
Anyway, it proves my point…
Why not you?
If a group of mobsters can get together and help build some software that becomes the flagship product for an entire (multi-meeeeeelion dolla) industry… why can’t YOU build the next Facebook or Google. Why can’t you be the next Zuckerberg or Sergey Brin?
It reminds me of the movie, Ratatouille…
And, the end when the critic Anton Ego says:
“In the past, I have made no secret of my disdain for Chef Gusteau’s famous motto: ‘Anyone can cook.’ But I realize, only now do I truly understand what he meant. Not everyone can become a great artist, but a great artist can come from anywhere.”
It’s probably true not everyone can be a great coder…
But a great coder CAN come from anyone…
Even if you were a trailer trash, hoodrat like me growing up…
Anyway, the point is simple. If you have an idea, chase it.
Don’t let any pessimisstic know-it-all a-hole (including me) dissuade or discourage you.
Of course, building that idea will require da skeeelz to do it. Whether it’s a web thing and you need HTML, CSS, PHP, yada yada… or it’s a Java thing… or maybe it’s an iOS or Android app you’re going to build… there’s things you’ll need to learn.
And, you can learn them the hard way or the easy way.
Now, you can do it however you want.
It’s your life.
But, if you’ve got a few dollas to invest in yourself and your idea… and you want to take a little easier and a little faster route to get there, then check Udemy’s latest 10-buq deal. You can get some of the best development courses on the planet, normally 150-200 buqs, for just 10 buqs.
If that’s you, here’s the link: https://johnmorrisonline.com/may.
Plus, you’ll get lifetime access so you can grab a bunch now…
While they’re cheap…
And, take them as you need them.
But, whatever you do…
Think about the thing YOU could build that could be the next big thing…
Then, chase it…
And, don’t let anyone knock you off course.
Later,
John
