Little bit of a rant today. Haha.
But, seriously, it’s one of the more annoying things about being a teacher. Not gonna lie, sometimes… some students… I want to slap them in the forehead and ask them, “What the f*** are you doing?”
Not in some mean-spirited way.
Sometimes, it just feels like *I* take their life more seriously than they do.
Here’s one example…
Y’all know… most of you anyway. When you sign up to this here mailing list, I now have a one-question survey that asks you what your biggest road block is when it comes to freelancing.
Far and away the #1 answer?
Like… not even close.
Close to 50% of the responses.
“Getting clients.”
Here’s a sample of some recent responses:

7 of 8 are related to “getting clients”. That’s WHY it’s the thing I talk about most on here. Yet, when I tell someone… “Look man… I’m telling you. Despite what you might think, cold email is the fastest, most direct way to get started.”
I get s*** like this:
“Ugh. cold email doesn’t work.”
How the hell would you know? Have you done it? Have you done it in the very different way that I teach? Why are you here saying your #1 problem is getting clients… yet you seem to already know what works and what doesn’t?
Obviously, you don’t or you wouldn’t be here.
“I don’t wanna do cold email. It’s spammy.”
First off, let’s say that were true… so what? Are you really that snooty about how you get clients? You’re “above” a method used by billion-dollar companies, millions of entrepreneurs and the most effective sales teams on the planet?
Yeah okay. Good luck!
And on and on with excuses.
I’ve found… the truth is… most people are just scared. They’re scared to get out of their comfort zone and do something different. I mean… cold email is hardly the only way to get clients. Far from it.
In fact, in my upcoming Freelance Feast course, I’ll show you 6.
6 completely unique and different methods for getting clients.
But, you shouldn’t be picky about the methods you use. You shouldn’t be like, “Oh, I’ll use this one and not that one”. That’s a recipe to get caught in the feast/famine cycle of freelancing that so many people dread.
Feast/famine is not a fact of freelancing.
It’s a *consequence* of not knowing every method…
Or being “too good” to use this method or that.
When you apply all 6 methods together, consistently and aggressively… there’s just almost no way you won’t get clients on a consistent basis. You have to be pretty terrible at just about everything.
Like epicly terrible.
Anyway, there’s only so much I can do.
I can lead a cow to slaughter… as they (don’t) say.
It’s up to you to actually do something with what I show you.
I’ll say this, as I wrap up… at some point, you’re going to have to decide. On one side, you have the job you hate… or being broke… whatever your situation is that’s pushing you to freelancing.
And on the other side, you have that fear.
That fear of taking a risk.
Of doing something outside your comfort zone.
Of putting yourself out there in a vulnerable way.
And, you gotta decide which is more scary. A lifetime of unfulfilled dreams and woulda, coulda, shoulda and regret… OR the fear of getting rejected, of what others might think or say, etc.
I know which side I land on.
But, at some point, you’ll have to face that head on.
My advice?
The sooner the better.
The more aggressively you face it, the better.
In any case, when it comes to the knowledge side of things, I can show you what to do. It’s really not that complicated. Certainly, a few nuances to doing it right so you get results, but nothing you can’t learn.
And cold email IS the fastest, most direct way to get started.
It’s almost like an “instant” business.
Because you could have your first client even yet today.
Anyway, I’m running a 3-day flash sale on my Cold Email Method course for anyone who missed it when it was on Skillshare or just didn’t want to jump through all the hoops to get it there.
The course is a full 77% off its regular price.
But only until Friday, May 7th, 2021 at 11:59pm CST.
After that, the price jumps back up.
So, if you want to own it directly, this is your chance. Link to learn more about the course is here: https://myjohn.us/coldemail
