It’s one of the reasons I focus on accomplished authors.
Any rando can write a book. I want people who’ve actually done what I want to do OR are universally considered some of the greatest thinkers in history. Getting to see how they actually thought and what they focused on… in their own words.
Far more impactful than the 20-something know-it-alls on YouTube…
Who just regurgitate what they read on a blog…
From another 20-something know-it-all.
But I digress…
Einstein, of course, is among those great thinkers. And one of the things he harped on was the importance of being able to explain your ideas and theories in the simplest terms possible.
He’s often attributed with this quote:
“If you can’t explain it to a six year old, you don’t understand it yourself.”
Which there’s no evidence he actually ever said that. But, plenty of evidence that he believed the underlying premise. There’s this quote about theories from the book, New Perspective in Physics, that’s attributed to him:
“…ought to lend themselves to so simple a description ‘that even a child could understand…'”
This from the book, The Evolution of Physics:
“Most of the fundamental ideas of science are essentially simple, and may, as a rule, be expressed in a language comprehensible to everyone.”
And this from, Prof Einstein — The Poet In Science:
“… Its great value lies in the logical simplicity with which it explains apparently conflicting facts in the operation of natural law It provides a more simple method. Hitherto science has been burdened by many general assumptions of a complicated nature.”
All expressing the same idea…
Keep it simple, stupid.
So, no doubt he’d likely feel the same scorn as yours truly about what online education has turned into. 30-hour “treatises”, grown adults jumping around like an orangutan on meth, epic montages and dope transitions.
I know people who’ve been at it for nearly two years…
And they still don’t have their course done.
Because they believe this is what it has to be.
It’s insanity. And it doesn’t have to be this way. To be blunt about it… the concept is brain-dead simple. Online courses are one of (maybe the most) effective way to create leverage in your business…
And break free from the time-for-muney- paradigm.
“Passive income”… sotospeak.
Although, it’s not 100% passive. I get it. It’s pretty darn close, though.
Instant authority.
Prestige.
More easily getting booked on TV, radio, YouTube, podcasts, guest blogging… invitations to join the newest learning communities… joint venture opportunities… the list of benefits goes on and on.
But, most people suffer from two problems:
1) They over-complicate the shizen-houzen-bachen out of it.
2) They don’t know how to actually sell the thing.
And, my point is… there’s a way to make both of those things dramatically easier. A way to create an online course that keeps it “stupid simple”… AND positions your course to be much easier to sell…
Than the dodo-heads prancing around in Facebook ads.
A way I’ve used to sell hundreds of thousands in online courses. Has got me invited to the same podcasts that featured huge tech companies like Slack, Amazon, Twilio, Adobe GitHub and others.
A way that’s lead to student reviews like this:
“I have been following John Morris for several years now. John has a very unique way of seeing what motivates people (not always muney!) and how to please others, while earning a nice living doing that. He constantly provides new content and his instruction ranges from beginner to advanced, to CEO level guidance. I have referred friends and clients to John, and have encouraged my own daughter to pay attention to what he says. When John offers a new course, I sign up instantly and I am
always ready to pay for the content. All of his teachings create wealth for me (and happiness for my clients!) I cant speak highly enough about John, his name is well known in my home.” — Scott Plude
And this:
“john has been part of my developer journey since day 1 – always been great, but this course was over the top as far as new ideas, resources, and content. thanks john!” — Violet G.
And this:
“Really helpful. Throughout the course I felt both inspired and empowered to begin and ultimately succeed at freelancing. As soon as John mentioned leaving a review in the conclusion segment I jumped onto It. Thank you, this is life changing for someone who has a lot to offer but had no clue at all how to go about beginning as a freelancer. Again, thank you.” — Natalie Furnas
And hundreds more.
In fact, I could bore you to death with these.
One of my courses has 115 reviews and a 98% positivity rate. So, just because it’s simple doesn’t mean it’s not valuable. In fact, I’d daresay the way I structure courses is *more* valuable than most teachers.
In any case, I can blab about this all day.
I can take the cow to slaughter, but I can’t cook you the steak… as they say (and by “they”, I mean me. I say that… and probably nobody else. :D). It’s up to you to figure out if this is a fit for you.
That’s one of the benefits of the Skillshare offer, though.
Because you can take the course and see for yourself — for essentially free. That’s because, as a teacher there, I’m able to offer you an exclusive 1-month trial of the platform (the normal trial is just 7 days).
So, you can join the trial…
Take the course (and any of the other 30,000+ courses)…
And then just cancel before the month is up…
And you never pay a penny.
Yeah, it’s a few hoops, but to get a course I’ll likely sell for $150 or so… for essentially free. And learn a course creation method that could bring you in tens or even hundreds of thousands in nearly-passive income?
Kind of a sweet deal.
But, again, that’s for you to decide.
The link to get the 1-month trial is here: https://myjohn.us/sane.
Then, once you’re signed up… just use that same link and watch Lesson #2. My Sane Course Creation course is housed there.
Later,
John
P.S. For Patrons… you already have access to this course and all my past courses here: https://myjohn.us/patreon.
