Not to mention his real-life counterpart, Kevin “windowless van” Spacey
This one ain’t for the faint of heart, toots.
Frank Underwood or Kevin “Windowless Van” Spacey…
(Who’s actually the bigger villain here?)
Would probably even blush at some of this stuff.
So, if you count yourself among the koombaya crowd who thinks freelancing (and business) is all lollipops and sunshine, “we’re all in this together” and “the client is always right” bubble gum nonsense…
May just want to close this one up.
Because, the truth is, power dynamics are real.
And he-she who has the power calls the shots. Case in point… when I worked on the Inc. Magazine project. First of all, it was freakin’ Inc Magazine. I was already at a power disadvantage just because of WHO they were.
THEN… it was who I actually worked with at the company.
Lewis Schiff.
Who, at the time, was one of their top-level directors. A best-selling author in his own right and the membership site I was helping him build was for business owners making at least 2 milly and up.
So, he dealt with high-level business people all the time.
And here I was…
Some dude from Iowa.
Early in his freelancing career.
Living in a small duplex in the middle of nowhere. If I had let him, he’d have run me to hell and back again. Fortunately, I had my military experience. I’d already done the Iraq thing and I wasn’t one to take no shyte.
No matter WHO it was.
I’d walk away in a snap and not give a flying futurama.
Anyway, I gave him the medicine and got him trained to be a good little client. Took a little more effort than usual because he was a take-no-shyte kinda guy, too. But, I won out in the end — like I usually do.
And… ALL to his benefit.
He’d been trying to get his site built for two years…
HIS way.
I got it built in 30 days doing it MY way.
And we were off to the races.
So, it goes to show that anyone can win the power game (that is real no matter how much you might sigh and guffaw or scoff at it) that you’ll inevitably face as a freelancer, business owner — hell, life in general.
Anyway, there were a cargo plane full of little power tactics to get him in line. Tactics I use with every client… from how you get hired to your first call to how you position yourself to the way in which you respond to a simple email.
Machiavelli would be proud! Haha.
Nothing shady or immoral, of course.
But, not for the faint of heart.
Anyway, I teach some of the most important of those tactics in my Ascension Matrix course. You could use them at your job, when freelancing — you probably could even use them in your love life or virtually any social situation.
To garner power and dominance.
If you want.
And, of course, it’s up to you to use that power wisely and ethically.
But, I can show you how.
Anyway, like I said, it’s in the course in the 2nd lesson. As per uuuuse, the course is up on Skillshare for the time being. Which means you can get essentially-free access. That’s because I can give an exclusive 1-month free trial of the site.
Where you get 100% unfettered access to every course.
Every video, every PDF, every download.
Everything. Zero restrictions.
So, you can take my course and any of the other 30,000+ on the site. And, if you cancel before the 30 days is up, you never pay a penny. It’s a few hoops, but may just be worth it to you.
But remember…
The course will be coming down at the end of June. At which point, I’ll sell it on my website for around $150 or so. So, if you want to save some dineros… best jump on it. Especially since it’s a 4-hour course.
So, you’ll want some time to get through it.
Anyway, link to start the trial is here: https://myjohn.us/ascend
Once you’re in, look for the “Let’s Talk Freelance course and jump into Lesson #3 in that course. That is the full 4-hour Ascension Matrix course.
Later,
John
P.S. If you’re a patron, you already have access to everything of mine including Ascension Matrix. You can find it all here: https://myjohn.us/patreon.
